Picture caption : On the 27th of July 2017, Prince Albert II of Monaco launched the ‘Monaco Explorations’ campaign. 120 years after Albert I, his great-great-grandfather, embarked upon his pioneering research, Monaco’s ruler is returning to oceanography. This three-year (2017-2020) scientific expedition will circumnavigate the globe on board the Yersin, and will study the biodiversity of the world’s oceans, oversee the implementation of programmes for its protection, and be at the forefront of a media campaign to raise awareness of the need for marine conservation.
